We can provide a comprehensive orientation to medical and health practitioners commencing work in rural Western Australia.
A Rural Health West orientation is available for all health practitioners new to Western Australia who have a rural or remote Western Australian placement. It is a free, two hour session aimed at providing clinical, cultural and family information which relates specifically to living and working in rural practice in Western Australia.
The orientation can be held in person at the Rural Health West office based in Perth, or online, and includes information on the following:

- CPD and Education opportunities provided by Rural Health West such as conferences and workshops
- Family Support Program
- Five Year Overseas Trained Doctors Scheme
- Health Workforce Scholarship Program
- Partner Grants
- Recruitment services
- An introduction to cultural awareness with an emphasis on Aboriginal health
- Information on the Australian Health Care System, professional practice and legislative requirements
- Regional and local information
Cultural Wealth Community Health
This publication is an introduction to cultural awareness for health professionals working with and caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in Western Australia. In the hope of achieving better health outcomes, the resource raises awareness about mutual respect and cultural understanding which underpins all aspects of the development of strong relationships with Indigenous patients and communities. Our orientation session for general practitioners is accredited with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
