This education workshop is proudly delivered by Rural Health West in partnership with WA Country Health Service.

This Rural Health West CPD workshop, presented by leading specialists in their field, has been designed to offer practising health professionals an update in toxicological emergencies.

This one-day workshop stream covers general and specific topics related to poisoning and local toxicology, using an interactive tutorial format concentrating on small group discussions of case scenarios.

The workshop content includes:

  • Understand the pathophysiology and clinical effects of common envenomation (snake, spider and marine).
  • Improve ability to decide on patient disposition and appropriately stabilise patients for transport.
  • Improve understanding of the appropriate use of first aid and investigations, and identify and list common poisonings.
  • Apply a systematic diagnostic approach in toxicological presentations to increase patient safety.

Eligibility: Priority will be given to currently practising health professionals  within the region.

Length: 8am – 5pm

Cost: $350 – $250

Accreditation:

4 Educational Activity and 5 Reviewing Performance hours with  Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

2 Educational Activity , 7 Reviewing Performance hours and 6 Emergency Medicine MOPS hours  Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)

This workshop is approved for the Rural Procedural Grants Program, Emergency Grant component.

We ask participants to contact their relevant college to ascertain their eligibility for the grant prior to attending.

Payment structure

You will receive an email link for payment in an event confirmation email. Payment is required within 10 days of receiving the email. If full payment is not received within 10 days, your place will be offered to another delegate.

Cancellation policy

  • Applicants who give notice of cancellation of four (4) weeks or more will receive a full refund of the workshop registration fee.
  • Applicants who withdraw from the workshop on or 14 days prior will receive a 50% refund of the workshop registration fee.
  • Applicants who fail to attend the workshop or who withdraw from the workshop less than 14 days of the workshop date are not eligible for a refund.
