This Rural Health West workshop is designed to support Western Australian Medical Practitioners in maintaining and enhancing their ultrasound skills and meeting credentialing requirements for WA Country Health Service.
Workshop overview:
- Delivered in a modular blended format, this course combines online learning with a hands-on workshop in Perth.
- Program begins with an introductory module covering ultrasound principles, physics, safety, machine care, and an overview of how we approach learning in a clinical setting.
- Participants will progress through a series of 11 clinical modules covering the core ultrasound applications most used in emergency medicine.
- Topics include trauma and E-FAST, abdominal aortic aneurysm assessment, biliary scanning, renal tract imaging, deep vein thrombosis, basic and advanced echocardiography, first trimester pregnancy and musculoskeletal and soft tissue scanning.
- Course runs over a 6 week online learning component and concludes with a three-day face-to-face workshop and assessment.
Eligibility: All medical practitioners are welcome to register, with priority given to currently practising rural and remote medical practitioners in an Emergency Department.
Length: 6 week online learning, concluded with a three day face-to-face workshop and assessment.
Online commencing 21 July 2026, in-person workshop 21 – 23 September 2026 in Perth.
Cost: $3300.00 (Inc. GST)

Virtual component : 5 Educational Activity and 4 Reviewing Performance hours with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners
In person workshop : 7 Educational Activity and 15 Reviewing Performance hours with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners
In person: Pending with Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
This workshop is eligible for the Rural Procedural Grants Program, Anaesthetics and Emergency Medicine components. Please contact your college for eligibility prior to attending the course.
We ask participants to contact their relevant college to ascertain their eligibility for the grant prior to attending.
Cancellation policy
- Applicants who give notice of cancellation of four (4) weeks or more will receive a full refund of the workshop registration fee.
- Applicants who withdraw from the workshop on or 14 days prior will receive a 50% refund of the workshop registration fee.
- Applicants who fail to attend the workshop or who withdraw from the workshop less than 14 days of the workshop date are not eligible for a refund.
