In late 2024, Rural Health West launched a new Community Education initiative, bringing relevant and timely health education directly to rural Western Australians. Delivered in partnership with regional Health Professional Networks, the program aims to equip rural communities with the knowledge needed to make informed health decisions and strengthen local care networks.

Since its launch, 12 education events have been delivered across WA, attracting 384 participants – 234 community members and 150 health professionals. Topics included concussion, perimenopause and menopause, and voluntary assisted dying. These sessions are held in person or in hybrid formats, depending on the needs of the region, ensuring accessibility regardless of location.

“The evening was fantastic. I gained a lot of knowledge and a better understanding of concussion which I can hopefully apply to everyday life.” – Moora participant.

“The sharing of knowledge and the way all the women coming together made you feel less alone.” – Broome participant.

“We are indeed fortunate… BRAVO… keep up the enlightening education program which is so vital!” – Albany participant.

By building health literacy and strengthening local support networks, the Community Education Program is helping to create healthier, more informed rural communities across Western Australia.
