Join us online for this thought-provoking symposium into the research gaps that inform clinical practice for pain neuroscience, sports injury rehabilitation and performance.
Brought to you by SMA’s WA State Council and supported by Rural Health West, the webinar explores the research gaps that inform clinical practice for pain neuroscience, sports injury
rehabilitation and performance.
Sex and gender biases within research remain a dominant issue and have significant real-world consequences, ranging from sub-optimal patient care to shaping helpful societal narratives around the fragility of female athletes. This event will challenge your cognitive bias and provide practical suggestions for change.
The program features presentations from leading WA clinicians and academics specialising in clinical pain neuroscience, sports science, physiotherapy and sports medicine, followed by Q&A. Speakers include Clinical Pain Neuroscientist, Associate Professor Tasha Stanton, Human Performance and Sports Scientist Professor Sophia Nimphius, researcher and physiotherapist Dr Mervyn Travers, PhD candidate and Advanced Scope Physiotherapist Cobie Starcevich, Sports Physician and ex-Olympian Dr Rachel Harris, and Editor-in-Chief of JOSPT and Physiotherapist Dr Clare Ardern. The MC for the event is SMA WA State Council Chair, Dr Myles Murphy.
