The Midwest-Gascoyne Health Professionals Network would like to invite all health professionals to join paediatric cardiologist Dr Stephen Shipton, based at the Perth Children’s Hospital, for an education evening. Dr Shipton has experience both in WA and internationally in providing care to children and adults with acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease.

Learning objectives:
• Understand the epidemiology and risk factors of ARF and RHD.
• Prevalence of ARF and RHD.
• WA Rheumatic Heart Disease Register and Control Program.
• Recognise signs and symptoms.
• Understand the pathophysiology and progression from ARF to RHD.
• Identify the diagnostic criteria.
• Understand the treatment and management strategies.
