This Rural Health West CPD workshop is designed to assist health professionals to develop and practise skills essential in unexpected crises, particularly with problem airways. Delivered in WA Country Health Service facilities, this workshop has a heavy emphasis on teamwork and the organisation of medical emergency teams incorporating presentations, skill stations and scenario-based crises with simulation manikins (SimMan and baby).

The Pilbara Health Professionals Network (PHPN), in partnership with WA Cardiology, is proud to deliver this important education session focused on identify red flags requiring urgent ED presentation regarding chest pain. Join Associate Professor Chris Judkins for a practical session on investigating chest pain in primary care, with clear guidance on who to test, when to act, and which investigations to choose. This session will help clinicians confidently risk stratify patients, recognise urgent red flags, and select the most appropriate initial cardiac tests.

This session will explore practical strategies for assessing and managing chronic pain, with a strong focus on multidisciplinary collaboration to improve patient outcomes.

Diabetes WA Connect – a new way to help clinicians with diabetes management in the Kimberley. Seng Khee is a graduate of the University of Western Australia, with physician and specialist training in Endocrinology. He completed his PhD research in human insulin physiology at the Garvan Institute before returning to Perth to commence his position as an Endocrinologist at Royal Perth Hospital in 2002 where he continues currently, including a 12-year role as previous Head of Department. As an Associate Professor in his Clinical Academic role at the University of Western Australia, Seng has research interests in diabetes complications and is involved with the UWA MD program in the areas of clinical skills development and assessment. His interests also extend into supporting new models of service delivery and improving access to care for patients with diabetes.

The Rural Health West CPD REACT+ workshop is designed to assist Western Australian Visiting Medical Practitioners to maintain their emergency knowledge and skills, and gain formal assessment towards their emergency credentialing, as required by WA Country Health Service. Covering medical emergencies, major trauma and cardiac arrest in adults and children, and associated lifesaving procedural skills training, REACT+ is a highly interactive workshop. Participants are provided with audio-visual pre-learning materials and the course consists almost entirely of small group practical skills stations and simulated scenarios.

This session explores both the clinical and lived experience aspects of perimenopause and menopause, supporting health professionals to: Recognise common and atypical presentations, build confidence in hormonal and non-hormonal management options, apply culturally responsive communication in everyday practice.The session will also highlight key considerations when caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, as well as women from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
