Webinar – ADHD in General Practice Part 1: Could it be ADHD? Undertaking a comprehensive assessment.

ADHD is increasingly recognised across the lifespan, yet identifying patients who may benefit from further assessment can be challenging in general practice.

This interactive webinar is designed to support GPs and primary care clinicians in recognising the features of ADHD and understanding the initial assessment process. Through practical guidance and case-based discussion, our presenters will help demystify the pathway from identifying possible ADHD to supporting patients through diagnosis and ongoing care.

 Presented by:

• Dr Sarah Youngson – Adjunct Senior Lecturer, UWA Medical School, Rural Clinical School. A GP with special interest in youth and mental health. Winner of the 2026 Community Health Professional of the Year  at the WA Rural Health Excellence Awards.Beyond her clinical work, Sarah has played a significant role in strengthening support for young people across the community. As Founder and Chair of the Blackwood Youth Association, she has helped establish local service hubs offering counselling, support, life skills education and youth case management in Bridgetown, Manjimup and Boyup Brook, giving young people more places to turn when they need support.
• Dr Tim Leahy – A General Practitioner and Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle. He serves on the ADHD WA Professional Advisory Body and is Chair of the RACGP WA ADHD Working Group.A recognised leader in ADHD care, Dr Leahy is passionate about improving access to timely, affordable diagnosis and evidence-based management, particularly for people living in regional and rural Western Australia. He is a strong advocate for reducing barriers created by long waiting lists and the high cost of assessment and treatment, working to improve equitable access to ADHD services across the state.
