On Friday night, we celebrated decades of dedication at the WA Rural Health Long Service Awards, co-hosted by Rural Health West and WA Country Health Service.

It was an evening devoted to recognising the commitment and achievements of those who have spent decades caring for rural and remote communities across Western Australia.

Those recognised represent the quiet backbone of our healthcare system – professionals who show up, day after day, through challenges and change, to ensure rural Western Australians receive the care they deserve.

The evening also marked Gary Smith’s first official engagement as Chair of Rural Health West, and we are pleased to welcome Paul Fitzpatrick as Chair of WA Country Health Service.

We would like to give a special mention to Dr John Rosser Davies, the third-ever recipient of a 50-year service award. Your dedication has had a profound impact on countless lives and communities across Western Australia.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). This event would not have been possible without your support.

Congratulations to all award recipients. Your commitment strengthens communities, supports colleagues, and makes a lasting difference to people’s lives.
