Topic: Caring for women in the east Pilbara

Dr Susan Downes will share her experiences of working with women in the Pilbara for the past 25 years and suggest ways to navigate the current referral systems and resources for women. Susan’s medical passion is rural obstetrics.

After completing medicine in England as a mature entrant with three children, she returned to Australia with rural medicine in mind. She has been a rural generalist-procedural obstetrician, for nearly 30 years mostly in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions but also Christmas and Cocos Island, Nhulunbuy and far north Queensland.
