This comprehensive two-day workshop is for medical practitioners, GP obstetricians, midwives and other health professionals seeking additional skills, knowledge and experience in caring for the newborn who is born early or in poor condition, and requires special and/or intensive care.

This engaging course is primarily delivered through skills work stations, case studies and simulations.  You will have the opportunity to learn important practical skills including:

  • Endotracheal intubation
  • Laryngeal mask airway
  • Chest needling and intercostal catheter insertion
  • Emergency access (including umbilical vein catheterisation and intraosseous insertion)

We will run simulations of common neonatal scenarios where you learn essential skills in:

  • Communication
  • Crisis resource management
  • Advanced resuscitation
  • Post resuscitation care and stabilisation prior to transport

This workshop aims to give you the confidence to deliver the highest level of care possible and help you overcome some of the challenges faced in resource-limited settings.
