The South West Health Professionals Network invites health professionals of the South West to attend in person in Busselton or, if unable to attend in person, online, for an engaging educational topic: Neurodiversity Affirming self-care for health professionals.

Joanne Edmonds is a Registered Psychologist with 25 years of experience in supporting children, adolescents, adults, couples and families through a compassionate, neuroaffirming and strengths-based approach. Joanne is passionate about creating safe, inclusive spaces where people feel understood and empowered.

Ellen Cowcill is a Physiotherapist working in the paediatric disability space. Ellen has experience with neuroaffirming self-care needs from clinical, personal and parental perspectives. Ellen has two children, who she says are her greatest teachers!

Together, Joanne and Ellen will discuss how health professionals are increasingly supporting neurodivergent clients while simultaneously managing high workloads, emotional demands and systemic pressures. Yet many clinicians are also neurodivergent themselves or experience neurodivergent traits that have gone unrecognised throughout their careers. This presentation explores self-care through a neurodiversity-affirming lens, recognising that wellbeing is not achieved by “pushing through”, but by understanding and respecting individual nervous systems.

Attendees will leave with evidence-informed tools they can apply both personally and professionally, enhancing their own wellbeing while modelling neuroaffirming care for the people they support.

Light refreshments provided.

This activity is eligible for 2 hours of self-reported CPD

For health professionals unable to join us in Margaret River, the session will also be available online.
