Distress and why mental health matters for health professionals.

Presented by the Regional Men’s Health Initiative, this event will shine a light on the unique pressures faced by those working in healthcare and offer practical strategies for recognising distress – in ourselves, our colleagues and our communities.

This session’s speaker is Michael Kaufman who will focus on situational distress, the dangers of distress, managing our distress and caring for ourselves and others. It explores the realities of distress, and the vital role mental health and wellbeing play in the lives of health professionals. Let’s break the stigma, strengthen our support networks and prioritise mental wellbeing in the
workplace and beyond.

Wheatbelt Health Professionals Network | Melanoma Diagnosis: Dermoscopy, Total Body Photography, Serial Imaging, and Confocal Microscopy | Northam

This event will discuss how dermoscopy improves diagnostic accuracy and reduces unnecessary excisions compared with clinical examination alone. Modern melanoma diagnosis extends beyond single-lesion assessment. Total body photography and sequential digital dermoscopy monitoring allow us to detect new and subtly changing lesions over time – catching melanomas earlier while leaving stable, benign lesions untouched. The combination of these tools increases sensitivity and specificity and are cost-effective in high-risk patients.
