Rural Health West provides funding through grants and scholarships to enable health and medical students to gain exposure and experience to rural health.

Current Financial Support Opportunities for Students

Rural Outdoor Adventure Race (ROAR) sponsorship

Rural Health West is offering to sponsor registration fees for a limited number of final year medical students’ and junior doctors’ to attend the Rural Health West Rural Outdoor Adventure Race (ROAR) 2023!

Allied Health Rural Clinical Placement Support Program

Scholarship payments are able to be used towards travel and/or accommodation expenses to reduce the financial burden on students on undertaking these placements.

The value of scholarships vary based on the location and duration of the placement.

Applications for Semester 1 placements that take place between 1 January and 30 June 2023 are now open. Applications close 21 April 2023.

Conference sponsorships

Rural Health West provides sponsorships for medical, nursing, midwifery, dental and allied health students to attend conferences and professional development related to rural practice.

These sponsorships assist students to gain more insight into rural health careers, develop additional knowledge and skills, and provide an opportunity for them to develop collegiate relationships with future colleagues and employers.
