Ideal opportunity for someone to establish and manage their own general practice in Katanning.

The town offers the advantages of a rural lifestyle, with the convenience of easy access to Perth, Bunbury and Albany.

About the role and general practice

Katanning Medical Centre has seven consulting rooms and is essentially a blank canvas.  The right operator would be able to set up and establish a busy practice that could include allied health services.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a general practitioner (GP) interested in establishing a practice and enjoying the Katanning lifestyle.

It would suit two GPs providing 10 sessions per week initially, but with a local population of 4,200 people, there is opportunity to grow and expand services at Katanning Medical Centre.

The package

The Shire of Katanning is looking for someone to set up and run their own business independently, with the Shire renting out the building only.

The practice needs to be fitted out with consulting equipment and furniture; however, you would have the opportunity of hiring out other consulting rooms independently, or contracting and managing other service providers.

While there is no house or car included in the package, the Shire would be able to assist with access to a new rental property.

WA Country Health Service credentials are required to provide services to Katanning Hospital, located next door to the Health Centre and Aged Care.  Emergency and on-call shifts would also be available.

Located in a Modified Monash Model (MMM) 5 and Distribution Priority Area (DPA) location, you would also be eligible for Workforce Incentive Program (WIP) payments.

About the community

Katanning is known for its friendly and welcoming community. It is a well serviced town with excellent education, businesses and services, sporting and recreation facilities.

Sports play a huge part of community life – tennis, football, basketball, gymnastics, swimming, netball, cricket, but offers specialised sporting interests – from gliding and light aircraft, to BMX tracks and skate parks, and motorsports.

Katanning is a true multicultural community, the most ethnically diverse regional centre in Western Australia and they are very proud of their community spirit. Community events form the backbone of Katanning’s social calendar. One of the most important community events on our social calendar is the Harmony Festival, where everyone comes together to celebrate and learn more about the various cultures in the town – the food, entertainment, historical stories and shared experiences.
