The Shire of Lake Grace is seeking expressions of interest and tenders for an upcoming opportunity at Lake Grace and Newdegate Medical Centres.
About the Role and General Practice
This is an excellent opportunity for a general practitioner (GP) to establish their own business at the Lake Grace and Newdegate Medical Centre.
The practice operates Monday to Friday out of modern premises in Lake Grace and Newdegate.
The GP would be required to provide hospital emergency department cover and medical care for inpatients at the Lake Grace Hospital with access to Emergency Telehealth service and Royal Flying Doctor service retrieval.
About the Package
The practice is to be run independently with the Shire providing the premises at both Lake Grace and Newdegate. As an owner operator you would retain all the profits generated by the practice.
Both of the premises are fitted out with equipment and furniture. Other consulting rooms at the premises in Lake Grace are used by complimentary health providers.
The package includes a 4 x 2 executive style home in Lake Grace and provision of a motor vehicle.
About the Community
Lake Grace Shire is situated in the Southern Wheatbelt and is one of the largest agricultural Shires in the State. There are approximately 1,265 people inhabiting its 11,890 km2 incorporating the communities of Lake Grace, Newdegate, Lake King, Varley and part of Pingaring.
Lake Grace town is approximately 320kms South-East of Perth, and 247kms north of Albany. The town has a District High School supporting just over 100 students from years K – 10 with SIDE (distance education) facilities for years 11 & 12. For younger children there is day-care, playgroup and toy library facilities nearby.
There is an active sporting community, with Football, Hockey, Netball, Basketball, Cricket, Tennis facilities and a bowling club. There is a 50m outdoor swimming pool that is open during the summer months. The Local Government Offices are situated in the Lake Grace Town.
The town boasts two cafes, an IGA, Butcher, hardware store, clothing store and pharmacy. There is a Visitor Centre, Men’s Shed, CWA, Art Space, and Pilates studio. For dining out there is the Hotel, Sportsmans Club and Walkers Winery.
The Lake Grace Medical Centre also hosts a dental service and early childhood services. It is situated near the Hospital and St John Ambulance.
Newdegate is a self-sufficient farming community which hosts one of the State’s major agricultural events, Newdegate Machinery Field Days, which attracts over 300 exhibitors and between 9,000 and 11,000 visitors annually. The town has a Primary School, grocery store, Skate Park, Golf Course, Tennis, Netball, Football and Hockey Clubs, Hotel, Community Resource Centre and a Medical Centre.
Lake King is a small farming community 115kms east of Lake Grace and 70kms north of Ravensthorpe. There is a primary school, Tavern and Motel, and an active Progress Association who work to improve the community. There is a Sports pavilion, netball, tennis, football and hockey club.
Varley is situated 40kms north of Lake King and has a post office and general store, and a medical centre serviced from Ravensthorpe monthly.
