The Kimberley Centre for Remote Medical Training (KCRMT) officially opened on 14 August at the University of Notre Dame’s Broome campus, also marking 30 years since the campus first opened. The celebration began with a traditional smoking ceremony and a Welcome to Country by Yawuru Elder Di Appleby, followed by a blessing from Father Pat and the formal opening by the School Dean Professor Rebecca Anglin.
As the most remote medical training facility in the world, KCRMT represents a landmark for rural and remote healthcare education. The first cohort of medical students began their training alongside lecturers and the school leadership team.
