The Midwest–Gascoyne Health Professionals Network, with support from St John WA, recently hosted an education evening on Critical Skills for Rural Emergencies: Airway Management, Trauma and Prehospital Decision-Making.
The session highlighted the challenges of delivering emergency care in rural settings, where limited resources demand rapid, high-stakes decisions. Participants explored Geraldton’s unique hybrid ambulance model, which is staffed by both career paramedics and volunteers, reinforcing the important role of collaboration between crews and hospital clinicians.
